Teach Your Children Well

Email received from my wife Friday afternoon, reproduced in its entirety here (names abbreviated to protect the innocent):

Subject: Star Wars

D. [8 y.o. son] spent 30 minutes in his room with E. [5 y.o. daughter], teaching her about Star Wars with his ships and your action figures. Now they are watching Return of the Jedi, D.'s choice since E. would like the Teddy Bears.

S.

I know I've done my job well to pass the SF torch to another generation.

You must be so proud. Probably as proud as I was when my then 3 1/2 year old looked at me and said, *cue spooky voice*, "Luke, I am your father".

My sisters were visiting, and the small daughter (1+) picked up the copy of Dune we had on the coffee table, and my brother-in-law immediately tells her, "The spice must flow."

This is after both of my sisters looked at our copy of Cryptonomicon and declared that they preferred Snow Crash.

I love my family.

I like your family's tastes in books. Though I preferred Cryptonomicon to Snow Crash.
