Heinlein's title dovetails so closely with Ayn Rand's We the Living that I have to wonder if Heinlein was attempting an answer work, or a parody. Any thoughts, anyone?

Rand's book came out in 1936, For Us, The Living was written in 1938, so it is possible. The Wikipedia entry notes that both titles came from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address but says there is no other similarity. Maybe there is, given both author's interest in economic matters. We might learn more when the Heinlein biography finally comes out.
