O.K., Why?
...Did anybody feel the need to remake The Andromeda Strain? I'll watch it from end to end later, but the ten or so minutes I saw were...uninspiring...
Posted by Fred Kiesche at May 26, 2008 07:13 PMDon't bother Fred,
unless its already too late.
Notable issues:
Helicopter pilots NOT wearing NBC suits while delivering and picking up a crew (who are wearing NBC suits) in a plague zone.
Being shown blood coagulated into sand. Being informed that corpses of creatures killed by Andromeda are not infectious. Watching a National Guard team infected and killed by Andromeda after a rat is dropped on them by an eagle and splashes blood all over the ground.
More (many more) helicopter pilots flying over plague zones without wearing protective gear.
(Many, many 'military' helicopters - and not any two of them the same type...)
The 'mutated, communicative and intelligent' strain of Andromeda that can dissolve organic materials, crashes a bomber carrying a nuclear device to help itself spread, but that fails to destroy the research crew working on finding a way to kill it. (intelligent but stupid Andromeda?)
So, all we need to defeat the nuclear-bomb-fail-safe-system is a plastic card and a thumb?
