Terry Goodkind
I'll freely admit to having ignored this gentleman's work. There are two reasons, really: (a) I'm not as interested in fantasy as I am in science fiction; (b) other than a few exceptions, I tend to ignore long open-ended serial novels (especially if they fit the first category!).
However...
I've now listened to two long and interesting interviews with him (one was at The Agony Column and one was at Adventures in Sci-Fi Publishing). I find a lot of interesting things being said by him. I don't agree with them all, especially his assertions that science fiction is dead by suicide (I have to wonder exactly how much science fiction he reads; some comments make it sound like he is basing his opinion only on movies!). His comments on philosophy, the role of books, the struggle for mankind's soul all ring with me.
Anybody read his stuff? Should I venture into an endless fantasy series?
